Mie Goreng recipe

Mie Goreng literally translates to 'Noodles Fried", and that is the best description of this dish. It's instant noodles, fried with veggies, meat, and topped with a fried egg. Typically, the dish is served with chicken skewers and prawn crackers.

Ingredients for One Serving:

  • 1 tbsp Oil of Choice (I Prefer Sesame Oil)
  • 1 tbsp Minced Garlic
  • 1 tbsp Chopped Shallots
  • Your Choice of Meat (Chicken or Shrimp are Most Popular)
  • ¼ Cup Cabbage (Shredded or Chopped in Strips)
  • ¼ Cup Carrots (Grated)
  • ¼ Cup Bean Sprouts
  • Egg Noodles (Instant Noodles are fine)
  • Mie Goreng Paste (Or Substitute with a Mix of Sweet Soy Sauce, Low Sodium Soy Sauce, and Your Favorite Hot Sauce)
  • 1 Egg

Here's How you Prepare It

01

Assemble the Ingredients. Chop your veggies. The dish is cooked fast, so it is best to have everything ready to throw in the pan as you go. Boil your noodles and set them aside to avoid overcooking them. Pan fry your meat of choice and set it aside as well.

02

You can cook this dish in a wok, or a skillet if you do not have one. Start by turning the heat on medium-high. If things are moving too quickly, reduce the heat. Add 1 tbsp of your oil of choice. Once the oil is hot, fry the shallots until crispy, then remove them from the oil and set aside for garnish. Next, add the garlic. Quickly add in the cabbage and carrots, to avoid burning the garlic. Now, add the mie goreng paste. Toss everything to coat with the oil and paste blend, allowing the veggies to soften. Once the veggies are cooked to your liking, add the meat and cooked noodles. Toss until everything is mixed. Remove from the heat. Lastly, add the bean sprouts and green onions and toss.

03

Top the mie goreng with the fried shallots. Serve with a fried egg. And if you're fancy, include some chicken skewers and prawn crackers.

How to Care for Your Items

  • Teakwood

  • silk robe

  • pashmina

Are the Chopsticks Dishwasher Safe?

When teakwood is exposed to such high heat and moisture as a dishwashing cycle, it can warp, splinter and eventually break. Instead, wash your teakwood items by hand using warm, soapy water and drying them with a clean towel.

How Should I clean the Utensil Holders?

It is fine to clean the utensil holders just as you do the chopsticks. You can also mix equal parts vinegar and water to clean both the chopsticks and utensil holders.

Should I Use Wood Polish?

Because you will eat with these items, I do not recommend polishing the chopsticks or the utensil holders. Instead, you can use a cooking oil to restore the shine. Vegetable oil works well and leaves no smell.

Habit Tracker

This will help you develop a morning routine and track how well you're taking care of you. Use the habit tracker in digital or print format.

Weekly planner

I recommend using this one as a part of 'Self Care Sunday'. Every week, I take a few minutes to map out my week with the weekly planner. Even if it is simply declaring a focus for each day, it helps me set myself up professionally and personally. Available to print or use digitally.
